Can you win in Las Vegas? by Dmitry Pavlov

I guess the answer is clear, you can, with Lady Luck being in love with you. However, if Lady Luck is not your type of girl (or vice versa which is alas more likely), is there anything you can do? I would like to offer you a strategy and a couple of thoughts for consideration, and these got to be akin the ones you can buy in a fight on Ebay :-).

About Slots...

Slots are attractive to players for many reasons, primarily because one can take time to exercise whatever strategies they like, press the buttons at the rate they are comfortable with as well as look at other people's displays and admire/get excited by observing how and how much they win. To not loose there, you shouldn't play, or if you do, think about it as paying for having fun, and do have it. Don't think "why the hack am I not winning?!", as you may not or in all mathematical likelihood shouldn't --- slots are heavily biased towards the house, and in the expectation you should always loose whatever you have. This certainly doesn't mean that you or anyone won't ever win, someone will but that someone may not be you. What works is "hit and run" strategy, when you cash out on the win and leave to enjoy it, this is very similar to the "session" defined in the pages above, however if you don't or are not winning you should take it as granted, remember to have fun and set a ceiling for when you are going to stop the fun for today.

Las Vegas and Reno have the best slots in this country, that are also "voted best" and "guaranteed loose". Now while this is true on average (compared lets say to the tribe casinos in California, where they don't have to even declare how much their edge is and people are still flocking in to them), this doesn't necessarily mean anything for you, so again my advice: have fun, reap the perks and don't forget to enjoy it, if you are not, you may have one of those problem gamblers' symptoms.

Now a few tips for you. Try machines closer to the entrance to casino, they tend to be looser, especially the giagentic ones where a lot of people can see you play, you win --- you bring in the crowd, so this is an incentive for casino to make them pay off better. Play video poker, it has way better odds than any other slot machine, again in general. If the casino puts up the sign, "98% paid back", then they have to stand behind it, which is good but again in the sequence of games you are going to play, it may be down, down and down, so you remember what? Have Fun! Finally, when they give you a bonus game, my take is that everything has been predetermined, they do let you "choose" but in reality they know how much money (or at least max amount of money) they are willing to loose, so don't sweat too much choosing between the "magic" boxes with money, they already have the figure for you.
