Josephine Edwina Jacques (February 7, 1924 - October 6, 1980), better known by the stage name Hattie Jacques, was a British comedy actress born in Sandgate, Kent.
Jacques is best remembered for her numerous appearances in Hancock's Half Hour and the Carry On films, and for her long-running TV partnership with Eric Sykes (in Sykes). She had a long association with the Little Players Theatre in London, which was founded by the actor Leonard Sachs.
She was married to the actor John Le Mesurier, by whom she had two sons Kim and Robin, from 1949 to 1965. She died of a heart attack at the age of 56.
