Murmansk Oblast (Russian: Му́рманская о́бласть) is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast). It is located in the north-western part of Russia. Its administrative center is Murmansk. Area 144,900 km², population 892,534 (as of 2002 All-Russian Population Census).
Geography
Geographically it is located mainly on the Kola Peninsula, and it is a part of the larger Lapland region that spans over four countries. Murmansk Oblast borders to Karelia, Finnmark County in Norway and Lapland Province in Finland. Norrbotten County in Sweden is also located nearby.

Murmansk Oblast is located in the Moscow Time Zone (MSK/MSD). UTC offset is +0300 (MSK)/+0400 (MSD).
