Nicosia District is one of the six districts of Cyprus. Its main town is the Cypriot capital, Nicosia. The northern part of the district has been occupied by the Turkish army since 1974.
The authorities in Northern Cyprus administres the Turkish-occupied parts of Larnaca District as part of Nicosia District, but this is not recognized by the internationally recognized government of Cyprus.
